Breathe deep. The universe smiles all around you. I have always had a connection to trees. They live and breathe for me no different than humans…except they have more wisdom generally. Cut a tree and I almost cry. It’s much like cutting into the arm or leg of a person. I stop regularly to scold [...]

I think seeing someone you love in pain has got to be the worst thing a person can go through.
I Look at Art Differently

I’m thinking as I look at a newly purchased painting how I look at certain art and think “it’s too perfect”. So predictable. So produced. So commercial. That’s good. But give me imperfection.
Do you look at the people driving by in other cars? This could happen to you.

I was driving down the freeway yesterday on a beautiful fall Minneapolis Sunday. I happened to be with a friend of mine. We were on our way to IKEA – we had a nice little Sunday planned out.
Before I realized it, we’re both looking at a 20-something male driving a Jeep Cherokee drive by us. [...]

Well maybe not blogging, ok, and maybe not killed, but taking photos you are putting on a blog while sitting behind people with weird bumper stickers.
My flash accidently went off as I sat at a stoplight taking a picture of a bumper sticker in front of me, making this guy VERY [...]

1:30am and I’m listening to the click click click of the clock. I close my eyes and my mind races, seeing my thoughts as if I were paging through a novel. I hope sleep will find me on the couch below, well before the crazy hour I am set to get up. It is so [...]
I’m just as bad as the people talking on their cell phones while driving. Or worse.

Last week on my way home from work, I decided to try a little experiment: count how many people I see talking on their cell phones while driving. It takes me about 20 minutes to get home from work, and I started this close to halfway home.
I was on the freeway while I started counting. [...]
I was thinking

If I was a kid growing up right now–what would my saturday look like?
Here’s what it DID look like then:
1. Get up
2. Dust or vacuum. My brother and I alternated weeks but we had a shag carpet AND a glass 2 tier coffee table so neither was easy.
3. Get outside as fast as possible.
Once outside [...]
